Take a MOOC!
MOOCs are Massive Open Online Courses and they available now, offering people who are not in higher education the opportunity to study bite-sized, high quality free courses from home.
The courses are ideal to help people get back into learning or to continue studying subjects in a more specialist subject area.
Whether brushing up on cyber security, improving business and management knowledge, or whether it’s an interest in studying history, art, law, science and many other subjects, reputable free online courses from leading universities and cultural institutions can be found here.
Southwater Library is offering a drop-in seesion on Thursday 3 December for people to come along and find out more about MOOCs and Futurelearn and making the most of the learning available.
The session takes place between 10am and 2pm gives people the opportunity to find out more and also find out how Telford & Wrekin libraries can help make the most of any learning experience.
Councillor Liz Clare, cabinet member for Leisure Services and Culture, said: “The services our libraries provide go far beyond the borrowing of a book. We have so much to offer people who want to start or continue a learning journey.
“I would urge anyone who wants to learn more about MOOCs and other learning opportunities to come along to the drop-in session on Thursday.
