Preston Montford Field Centre Gets Ready for 60th Birthday Celebrations
Staff at environmental education centre FSC Preston Montford near Montford Bridge are getting ready for an open day on Saturday 18th November to celebrate the centre’s 60 years of providing opportunities for people of all ages to discover, explore, and understand more about the natural world.Poppy and Jonathan having been practicing wreath making using willow from the estate ready for one of the activity sessions on Saturday. There will also be birdfeeder making sessions, guided walks at 11, 12 and 1pm and an introduction to tree identification – something for all the family.
Head of Centre Adrian Pickles says ‘FSC Preston Montford opened its doors as field centre in 1957 when around 930 people visited a year now, 60 years on, we welcome around 9000. People come from throughout the UK and around the world to FSC Preston Montford to discover the wonders of Shropshire but we want to share our special celebrations with our local community. It’s an opportunity for people to pop in and find out more about what we do and more about the wonderful wildlife of Shropshire – we hope people will join our birthday celebrations. ’
There is no need to book and the event is open to people of all ages running from 10.00- 3.30pm on Saturday 18 November at FSC Preston Montford, Preston Montford Lane, Shrewsbury, SY4 1DX
