Christmas is officially unwrapped at the Telford Centre

Thousands of people flocked to the Telford Centre to watch a spectacular light switch-on fun day, marking the start of the festive season.
The action packed programme of enchanting events started at 11am, leading up to the Christmas lights switch from Signal 107 DJ Dicky Dodd and Santa Claus at 5pm.

Katie Broome, marketing manager at The Telford Centre, said: “Thanks to our jam-packed schedule of events, our Christmas lights switch-on was a great success with lots of festive cheer spread around the centre.
“It was such a magical day and we were delighted with the turnout to launch the Christmas season at the centre. It was great to see the smiles on the faces of shoppers as they were wowed by performances from our enchanting Snow Lion, the Red Queen and Winter Fairy as well as a whole host of other performers.
“We hope that our event got everyone in the Christmas spirit and we look forward to welcoming even more visitors to the centre over the festive season.”
Taking centre stage during the day was the largest Snow Lion to walk the earth, the spellbinding creature, accompanied by the Red Queen combined animatronic puppetry with breath-taking realism that astounded and delighted both children and adults alike.
Visitors were left in awe as they watched the full size lion walk, blink and even make sounds, creating a Christmas memory they will never forget.
Also featured on the day was the incredible Christmas Bells, Nott the enchanted character, the mischievous fairies, and the illuminated Winter Sprites.
There were also animated displays from the Enchanted Forrest, Snow Globe and Hodman and Sally who dazzled spectators during the day.
For those who have yet to see Santa in his grotto, online bookings are still available through the Telford Centre website –
